She sat alone at the gates of the palace
Knowing that she could make little dent
Only with the guards and dear Chenubis
Her anger on the murderers she could vent

Xel knew that chances were easily on her side
That she could bring aid to this small place
She, mighty guards, and cloud serpent strong
To the hated fools they would verily lay waste

She paced and hissed quietly in indignation
Like a fire in her chest, frustration grew
She watched the killers with a hawkish eye
Waiting, fretting, then she saw as if on cue

Finally, as though Lady Keresis had smirked
And let fly a mandate to the archer's bows
First one fell, then the next, not once
But twice, and in Xel satisfaction did glow

"Yes, yes!" she cried, "Show them your might!"
This day, albeit one, the hunter lost the fight
She stayed for a time, content now, at peace
Her brethren could sleep well for one more night.
