An officer in the Ninth Legion of the Royal Ashtani Army during the reign of King Martin the Wise, Amphites, the Polemarch once governed the island outpost of Shala-Khulia. After the deaths of his wife Carina and many of his soldiers, Amphites and his men were recalled to Ashtan. He never returned, however, as his trireme was wrecked upon the shore of the northern forest Rheodad.

Serving directly under the Polemarch and interred within a tomb in Rheodad are the hoplites Daeon, Eurynestes, Martorius, Pascas, Phidaeon, and Shastaos.
