In the autocracy form of House government, one members hold leadership over the organisation, but there may be a council that supports the Ascendant. The Ascendant holds the decision making power, but also must hold the trust of the House in order to maintain leadership. The Ascendant must respond to any challenge to his or her position by the respective successor within a limited time frame, or the office can be lost via contest and election.
