My Little Humgii

I wish I had a humgii
To walk around the lands.
A little humgii on a leash
Who'd eat, not just from hands,
But if I pointed to a piece of refuse lying there ...
He'd gobble it up!

He wouldn't eat the nice things
That people put in groves--
Just flame-sigilled old weapons
And backpacks, found in droves,
And if he saw a jack-in-the box, all used up, sitting there ...
He'd gobble it up!

He wouldn't eat the letters
Left places to be signs.
He'd just eat things nobody wants--
Never the windchimes!
There'd be enough to feed him, 'cause trash is everywhere ...

I'd take my little humgii
All around the world.
He'd know not to eat pennons,
Blowing all unfurled.
But maybe it would be okay if he could also eat ...
