Once he had been a mortal man
The realms' most glorious star
Master of guild and city both
His name known wide and far
And in time he was God-chosen
To drink deep the divine nectar

For years untold he laboured
Working by the Weaver's side
No longer mortal but a Celani
Forever in the Garden to abide
Gifted with power beyond belief
But all mortal contact was denied

But then dawned that fateful day
When he viewed the earth from high above
And saw her, fair daughter of mortalkind
Sapphire-eyed and graceful as a dove
So that despite his greatest efforts
He was doomed at last to fall in love

Forgetting himself, he went to her
And fell before her upon one knee
"Maiden, my heart is yours," he said
"I would give you the melodies of the Sea
I would make for you a necklace of stars
Whatever you wish, you've only to ask me

A rose from the Garden? A Prosperian jewel?
It is within my power -- I speak you true
I can offer you all the wonders of the world
Only in hopes that you will love me too
Anything you desire, in your deepest heart
Ask, and it will be yours, for I love you"

In his fiery embrace he took the girl
Enfolding her softly within his light
He told her his name and what he was
And thus forever sealed his plight
A single day of love they had together
Before evening darkened into night

Then from her arms he was snatched
And brought back before the Garden
He looked at each divine face and knew
It would be vain to plead for pardon
Even as the Celani began to speak
He saw each God's face slowly harden

Never again did he see his beloved
Nor anything else he had known
Stripped of all his power and pride
Into oblivion itself he was thrown
And his star that had been so bright
Never again in Sapience shone.
