'''Gold sovereigns''', often referred to as just '''gold''', are the basic units of currency in Achaea. They are used to buy almost everything (notable exceptions include the [[artefacts]]) and can be obtained through many different means. Some of the more common ones are [[hunting]], [[fishing]], and doing [[quests]].  

Gold sovereigns are also sometimes used in brewing [[concoctions]]. After the gold is melted down, the remaining liquid is then stirred into the rest of the mixture. Only the [[restoration salve]] includes liquid gold as part of its recipe, though the lost [[lost elixirs|galvanic elixir]] is believed to have also used this ingredient.
