Inquisitor's Files: On Chaos
By: Hieyoko Posted on: August 11, 2007
Papers recovered from a raid by the forces of Chaos and Darkness on the office of a former Grand Inquisitor. Due to circumstances surrounding the raid, the ex-Inquisitor is currently being interrogated on suspicion of ties with Chaotic individuals, suspicion of ties with Dark individuals, suspicion of ties with Chaotic activities, suspicion of ties with Dark activities, suspicion of treason, suspicion of heresy, and suspicion of espionage. Additional pages may be released at a later date, depending on the will of the Supreme Inquisitor. ----------- Inquisitor's Guide to Effective Interrogation Techniques and the Subsequent Gathering of Relevant Information (page three) Penned by the hand of Grand Inquisitor Kasdeya Immunda, Plaga del Paganus In the following pages, I will detail effective procedures for extracting information from the enemies of the Holy Church of Achaea, the enemies of Good, the enemies of Light, the enemies of Justice, and the enemies of Valour. Due to the wide variations in potential enemies, this list will be constantly expanding as alternative methods are tested. This page is written to specifically handle the extraction of information from those who have devoted their lives to the opposition of Justice, Light, Truth, and Righteousness by studying and promoting the use and spread of the forces of the Occult. Each of the below practices has been specialised to ONLY deal with those who actively practice the Chaotic arts, and will not function appropriately on those who do not use the skills contained within. Conversely, each of the General Techniques noted in the Files of the Supreme Inquisitor are effective additions to the interrogation of the Occult, and when used suitably, will greatly magnify the effectiveness of each technique used. Prying information from the followers of Occultic practices is difficult, as would be expected, due to their inherently secretive nature. The following methods have proven effective in extracting vital information and purging the heathens of their impurities. REMOVAL OF CHAOTIC GROWTHS AND ADDITIONS Chaotic Growths and Additions may include, but are not limited to, the following abnormalities: Unnatural muscle mass or texture; drastically increased or decreased flexibility in joints; growth and colouring of scales or fur outside the standard capabilities of the race; skin texture outside the normal capabilities of the race; and abnormally animalistic features of the face, limbs, or appendages. Additionally, some of the more practiced in the Occultic arts may bear supplemental digits, limbs or tentacles; additional eyes; forked tongues (how appropriate); sharpened fingers or teeth; or other such unnatural manifestations of the Taint. Removal of Chaotic Growths and Additions is a process that should be handled with extreme care, as the taint of Chaos is both dangerous and unpredictable. Inquisitors should take precautions not to come in direct contact with the removed sections. Recommended tools include the cat o'nine tails, the Cat's Paw, a kris, a lengthy dagger with appropriate guard, or (in severe cases, such as elephantine legs), a battleaxe or broadsword, preferably crafted from mythril to reduce possibility of the taint. Should contact occur, a High Purifier should be contacted immediately, and the Inquisitor should be placed in a Rite of Cleansing for a duration to be specified by the High Purifier. Once the High Purifier has assured that the taint did not spread to the Inquisitor, the Inquisitor shall notify a replacement, and will not continue the procedure. The Removal of Chaotic Growths and Additions serves primarily as an isolating factor during the interrogation. When performed in complete silence, it creates a feeling similar to being Banished in the Void, which serves to increase the pain caused by the operation exponentially. When done correctly, the Inquisitor's first words after the Removal is complete will serve as a focal point for the heathen's attention, and they will speak freely in an attempt to distract themselves from the fire searing their frame. BLESSING OF THE OCCULT When done in traditional settings, gifting the Occult with Blessings is grounds for excommunication and execution at the hands of the Archprelate of the Holy Church of Achaea and the Arms of the Inquisition, respectively. However, when performed in controlled circumstances at the hands of a properly-trained High Inquisitor (or above), the Blessings of the Divine serve a dual purpose. The powers of the Holy Church of Achaea and Her Divine are a powerful force against practitioners of the Occult, and the very bestowing of them upon a restrained heathen sears them to their soul. As their body rebels against the visions of the Light, so will their mind stir them to drown out the angelic voices of the Choir, and their tongues will loosen while they use their voice to stifle their mind. Weakened both physically and mentally, a gentle coaxing is typically enough to persuade the heathen to reveal their secrets to the Inquisitor. It is essential that I note the following: Should an Inquisitor use Blessing of the Occult as an Inquisitorial Technique, the Inquisitor is obligated to end the life of the heathen. While they may have revealed useful and pertinent information, they are still a sworn enemy of Order and of Light, and it is the duty of the Inquisitor to remove from the heathen the ability to carry about the Blessings that were bestowed upon them. BURNING Perfected during the Burning Times initiated by our predecessors, Burning remains a viable means by which to extract vital secrets contained in the minds of the heathen. Multiple variations of Burning have been mastered through the ages - the following are simply the most effective. Should the individual yield to their pain and reveal useful information, the Inquisitor is authorised to extinguish the flames from a distance. This is generally best accomplished by emptying a large bucket of water, preferably from the Inquisition's sewers, atop the individual. This douses the flames rather quickly, while allowing for infection to set in if untreated. Controlled Burning involves the use of specialised chemicals perfected by the Inquisition. The chemicals are carefully poured from specialised vials onto the area to be lit, at which point the caustic liquids will begin to eat away at the flesh. It is highly recommended that the Inquisitor use a ring or gloves with the Firelash enchantment (provided by the Inquisition) to set the liquid ablaze, as the proximity required for use of a tinderbox places the Inquisitor at an unneccesary proximity to the Occult. A properly executed Controlled Burning can be limited to a short, small blaze when used on the hands or feet, or can consist of extended conflagration if multiple vials are applied liberally to the heathen. This process is extremely painful, but it is rare that the burns are deeper than the lower dermis, and death is uncommon save for the weak, young, or those of the Troll, Grook, or Rajamala races. Uncontrolled Burning is generally used only for those of the Dwarven or Xorani races, as it proves fatal much too rapidly to those without an innate resistance to fire. The chemicals (noted above) are applied liberally to the flesh of the individual from above, and should be allowed to simmer until the flesh or scales of the individual are visibly deteriorated. The lighting method (also noted above) should begin away from the heathen's head, allowing the flames to spread upwards towards the face. The flames will not immediately burn the individual, providing a momentary burst of confidence which will quickly fade into disorientation as the flames begin to take their toll. It is possible that this method will result in a momentary lapse in sanity due to the inherently weakened grip of the mind of the Occult on reality, and the Inquisitor is expected to ensure that the heathen is speaking rationally and truthfully before extinguising the flames. Immolation is fatal for all who are subjected to it, and should not be performed unless the heathen has revealed all that is possible to reveal. Immolation may only be performed under the supervision of a Grand Inquisitor, both to ensure that no further information can be extracted and to prevent Lesser or High Inquisitors from accidental contact with the Occult. Due to the delicate nature of the requirements for Immolation, their procedures are confined to the Files of the Supreme Inquisitor, and may only be viewed by those with written approval or the appropriate ranks. ADDITIONAL NOTES ON THE OCCULT When interrogating the Occult, one must always be prepared that the Occultist will, rather than formally die, instead attempt to mutate their form into something "stronger," "better," or other such nonsensical terms when speaking of Chaotic modifications. This process is formally referred to as "Transmogrification," and all Inquisitors of the Occult should take special care to not come in contact with the individual during this process. While the stench of Chaos in such close proximity may be overbearing for the most holy Interrogators, a benefit is provided in that the Transmogrified Occultist will bear few, if any, marks from the Interrogation before, and the processes can be begun again with a renewed vigour. The corpses of the Occult who have been interrogated and purged should be sealed only by appropriately trained High Inquisitors (or those ranked above) in accordance with the Manual for Disposal of the Interrogated, viewable in the records of the Inquisition. Those found to have improperly handled this duty are subject to cleansing and Interrogation for Suspicion of Involvement with Chaotic Activities, Suspicion of Affliction by Chaos, and Suspicion of Treason. ----------- Through the Inquisition, all will be made pure. The Light will burn away the impurities that have flourished for too long, and Good will fill the Realms with perfection. - X
