Defense

Beneath the red of Autumn's sunset, Mingling with the wind's sweet dulcet, Bards sing their songs of war, Anthems and Hallelujahs soar As hasty encouragements are stuttered And heartfelt prayers muttered To whichever God may listen While beads of sweat begin to glisten. Shining under dying rays, fine Theran steel Slices through the air and all can feel The smell of venoms with each breath As songbirds trill a soft prelude to death And with eyes hardened by a grim resolve Priests prepare their angels to Absolve The approaching army and through the din A set of crystals begins to hum and spin... And even with no hope of life to fuel The brave defenders of the Jewel, As meteors glide across the evening sky, It is with pride that they will die... And under the paradise birds' startled flight, They march into the approaching night Ready to kill and die and fight For Shallam's glory and Valour's Light.
