An Unanswered Dream

"It's her birthday, today, oh Tiah the Fair.
Known all around for her platinum hair.
And she'll spend it alone, just like before,
She'll sit by a fire, behind a closed door.
She'll pass her time knitting, she'll yodel some songs,
Away from the cities, and raccous sounding throngs."
"Why?"
"Well, there's many reasons, one could guess..."
"It's because she looks good in that blue, satin dress."
"You're a blithering fool, but alas, I digress.
I was lucky to have her for tea at my place,
And I watched as the firelit danced on her face.
In time, the wine, flowed as freely as tea,
And much like a blossom, she opened to me."
"What do you mean?"
"I know things her her, that no one else does,
Why she is lonely, and the reasons because."
"What happened?"
"I tell you this, for we are friends, and because I know you care,
And for Tiah's tragic sadness...I feel compelled to share.
Back before Hashan had been created,
The forestal minds, fell apart, and debated.
The advent of city in forest brought sorrow,
So some of the Druids sought power to borrow.
Lord Lupus sent werewolves, to scavenge and maim,
And the denizens readied for war in His name.
One one side stood Hashan, steadfast to achieve,
On the other, the Druids, the forest and leaves.
Cutting a swath through the carnage within;
Lord Lupus, the Valiant, and Lady Gaia with Him.
The anger of God, and Goddess alike,
Like a bolt of lightning, did sunder and strike.
Over the battle, They steadily poured,
And in the middle, stood Tiah, clutching her sword.
..but not once did she raise up her weapon to strike.
She simply just stood there, frozen with fear,
As Gaia and Lupus' werewolves drew near.
She said she recalled, the snow start to fall,
And a bone-chilling wind, that tore through her shawl.
Then all went black; she was lighter than air,
As her consciousness slipped into the pits of despair.

She awoke to a warmth, that spread on her face,
As her eyes came to focus on a very strange place.
The doorknob turned, and a figure stepped in,
The light of the fire seem to come from in him.
'You've been out for three weeks, you've slept rather sound,
I was worried you'd never raise yourself up from the ground.'
'What happened? Why am I here?
'An arrow, dosed with Delphinium, did graze your skin.
You should be thankful to Lupus for how lucky you've been.'
'Who are you?'
He extended his hand - 'Tea, herbal mint.'
And his eyes look at hers, as he said, 'Covenant.'
'Why did you save me? I was fighting for Hashan.'
'You were fighting for no one, dear, I think you're mistaken.'
That's when she fell for him, nearly completely,
And began leaving notes for him, rather discreetly.
Finally, one day, she worked up the will,
To tell him she loved him, at the Oak, dressed to kill.
He looked at her, much like before,
And whispered to her, then he walked to the door.
He stopped before he entered, just before he went through,
And sadly shook his head, as he faded from view.
"And that's why she's sad, all the time, she told me,
From what he had whispered, had been most grievously
The reason she distances herself from the rest,
And the meaning behind that satin blue dress."
"What did he tell her?"
"He wasn't the one who had saved her, the dear,
He wasn't the one that had brought her here.
He wasn't the one she should love just for that,
She shouldn't give up her dreams at the drop of a hat.
Her dream was to finally have a place to belong,
And at the outset, she found that her dreams were quite wrong.
I know all to well, what it feels like to lose...
When you have a dream that's too important to bruise.
"What is your dream, then? Praytell this make sense,
You seem like you're dying now, your face is all tense."
"Covenant was not the one who saved her,
It was I who did it, an invisible savior.
My dream, was her, and now it's come true.
She's safe from harm, though she never knew."
