All clear in the Vashnars said the Caer Witrin guard,

The drakes are a-slumbering in the mountains afar,

The diamond-dust stars shine in the night sky above,

But when this night is over I'll be with my love,

Salieri's asleep in his house down the way,

Dreaming of melodies he'll soon get to play,

And the children are home all tucked warmly in bed,

While the silvery snowflakes fall soft overhead,

From the mountain to the plaza walked the Caer Witrin guard,

And angels in the snow he did fondly regard,

With a smile on his face as he strode toward the stairs,

Giving thanks for his daughter and wife in his prayers,

All clear in the Vashnars, what a wonderful view,

Thought the Caer Witrin guard as a deep breath he drew,

And away from the cottages in the night's gloomy shade,

He did march ever closer to the serpentlord's blade,

A devilish mask on the ground he did spy,

Its twisted face leering as the archer walked by,

And even as he bent to inspect the strange thing,

The Caer Witrin guard felt the dirk's painful sting,

In silence the warmth of his breath left his chest,

And a trickle of blood to his fate did attest,

While the diamond dust stars shone in the night sky above,

And the Caer Witrin guard said goodbye to his love,

All clear in the Vashnars, heralded Lady Sol,

As the children grabbed mittens and went out on patrol,

And discovered, amid the dawn's comforting glow,

Where another angel lay softly asleep in the snow.
