Scene I
Enter Dreamer and Ordinary Man
Dreamer:
Too long have they held their own in this world
without the things the others hold so dear.
You know what I speak of, the two-fold icons.
Not in their world, but not on the Dying
Fields. An icon will unify my House.
Ordinary:
They are only ordinary fighters,
not accustom'd to the heat of battle.
It can only fall, and with it their dreams.
Dreamer:
Think you them weak and defenseless infants?
Long have their dreams soared amongst the heights
and with it their hopes and abilities.
For years they have held off the wildwood fires
along side the druids and sentinels.
The Sylvanic Fellowship is ready.
exit Dreamer
Ordinary:
So She says, and so shall I make it be.
Now, the decision belongs not to me.
The power of an icon shall they see.
exit Ordinary Man
Scene II -- Forest
Enter House Mistress
Mis:
She should be here in this eldest of woods
No doubt She is here, but hidden from sight.
The Dreamer is not one to break her word,
and offer to meet me here, she did.
Enter House Member (from opposite)
Mem:
Hail,
Voice of the House, how fare you on this day?
Mis:
Well, sister
Mem:
What brings you to this eldest wood?
Not some great tragedy, a woeful stroke?
Perhaps, indeed, good tidings bring you here.
Oft come I to these woods in Cel'bration
or to wonder at the deepest green
Mis:
Yea!
Sister, I was bid come here by The Dream'r.
I know not the why nor the wherefore, ran
here did I when She the word gave to me.
A higher cause, no doubt
Mem:
Great things are afoot!
The Dreamer does not speak but one must listen.
What shall you do when She comes here to you?
Mis:
Words shall I have with Her and she with me.
(aside) words with Her, for certain, since edgewise I
can get not a single in with this one here.
Mem:
Then I shall take my leave, well may you be.
Mis:
For you I wish the same you wish'd for me
(exit House Member)
(Enter Dreamer)
Dreamer:
Hail, you Mistress of the House, and well met.
You have come as bid to speak of matters,
and a not dissapointment shall it be.
My council deems you fit, the time is right
for an Icon to rise and show your might.
Mis:
O great Dreamer, this is indeed great news!
But what shall this Icon be, what symbol?
Dreamer:
Let us walk a while and talk of just that,
for this choice must be careful and unique
(Exit Dreamer and House Mistress)
(Enter Figure Wreathed in Shadow)
Figure:
The future of your Icon shall be bleak.
(Exit Figure Wreathed in Shadow)
Scene III -- Forest With Viridian Tome
(Enter House Mistress, House Member, Dreamer, and others)
(Enter Figure Wreathed in Shadow, unseen)
Dreamer:
Behold, the Viridian Tome Icon!
May it here stand tribute to your prowress.
I am much pleased with the Fellowship;
you have all worked hard for this Icon,
but the hardest work is yet to begin.
A shadow of a threat grows against us,
I know not what throws this shadow, but we
must be prepared. Strengthen this Icon
and make it your own, for it's might shows yours.
(Exit Dreamer)
Mis:
A glad day is this for the Fellowship!
Go, brothers and sisters, go strengthen the
Icon, and heed the words of the Dreamer;
we must be e'er ready for any threat.
Grow, Housemates, and rise to the occasion.
(Exit all but Figure)
Figure:
Yes, go forth and grow like the mighty oak.
When the strong winds blow, it eith'r bends or breaks.
Which shall you be, Fellowship, in the end?
Fellowship, Will you break, or will you bend?
(Exit Figure Wreathed in Shadow)
