Far to the west, isolated by sea,

lies a land with great roots set in our history.

The respect that they give to their shard of Three Moons

is apparent in so many things that they do

and I wonder at all of the reverence shown

to a past that is far removed, though it's well-known.

Is that quality lacking in people today

or should bygones be bygones as we find our own way?

Take Umbrin, an island of soldiers and war,

with a culture that's based on the might of their corps

despite insulation, they fight those nearby:

the Colchians, assassins - is it just since they're nigh?

Pandemonium taught me that growth stems from strife

and that's proven quite accurate in my own life,

but is it the same for these natives as well

or in peace, do some islanders also excel?

As I think and observe, thoughts like these come to mind

and I wonder what's natural and what's been refined.

There are people with habits so deeply ingrained

that it proves quite a challenge to try ascertain

what is natural and what is but urban affect.

What is truth and what's artifice free and unchecked?

As I travel, I see all these cultures unique,

but it's thinking with context that keeps interest piqued.
