Luminai records of a ritual

The following is an excerpt from the papers of a late fifth century Shallamese citizen accused of occultism, the worship of Babel, God of Oblivion, and attempting a ritual to destroy the Basilica. Templars found the man standing over a pair of corpses of Templar paladin recruits and killed him before the ritual was complete, but sources say that the words the man was chanting comprise the early part of this document. The papers were kept in Luminai custody before their mysterious disappearance from the Basilican archives.

Slain, the righteous Templar knights

Blood shed to honour holy ground

Lain, their iron swords now silent

Masters here for darkness bound

Vain, the struggle with their betters

Lords of sight and kings of sound

Fain, the words with which to summon

Power that lets one cast down

Requiem for hope, console us

We who cherish rest from this
