Star-shot is a unit of ship ammunition meant to be fired from an onager. It consists of five flat bands of heavy iron joined in a star shape about a bundle of wooden rods.
Upon hitting an enemy vessel, star-shot will entangle the figurehead, forcing whoever might be melded to release it, and rendering further melding impossible until such a time as it is cleared. When coated with dragon's tears, it will also cause the bow of the target ship to catch on fire.
When fired at sea monsters, starshot will slow the creature's attack speed for a short time.
