Fallen Angel - The Sacrifice of Irrela

by Father Bahtell Argenthand

The daemons came hot and quick in the night,

With tooth and with nail, they gave a fierce fight.

The rift they had traveled to Cyrene's main gate,

From The Inferno carrying Apollyon's hate.

For months on end they came at a whim,

Leaving defenders angry and grim.

There seemed no solution, while all searched the land,

Senators, paupers, all tried their hand.

They sought out Occultists and turned to the Church,

Half hoping, half praying, that something would work.

They came to Marhisa and asked what to do?

"We've tried all we know! We just want this thing through!"

Marhisa just said "It's been done before.

It won't be easy, it will be quite a chore."

So she cloistered and studied, while all wrung their hands,

She consulted her angel, they came up with a plan,

Marhisa was worried the bond that they shared,

Might be lost forever and none would be spared.

A Ritual, performed to break that deep bond,

So Irrela could close the rift from beyond,

Willingly both came grim to their task,

The end would be more than any could ask,

Both nearly died before the rift could be closed,

But the task was complete and the end game drew close,

As they trod t'ward Cyrene, tears stained every eye,

All knew that her path would end in the fire.

Through the rift she did travel to the enemy's den,

To bear every trial as Creation's Friend.

We know she was tortured, and taunted, and scorned,

She found her True Death, and will grace us no more.

Irrela, dear Angel, for Good and for Light,

You faced those black daemons on Cyrene's dark night,

You faced sacrifice, you faced your True Death,

You knew what was coming, and faced your last test.

With Creation at stake, you took the hard road,

You walked in the Light, to lighten our load.

Irrela, Irrela, we thank you for this,

A great gift you've given, Light's greatest gift.

Cyrene is peaceful and growing in Light,

Serving Creation, to this very night.

We'll always remember you, you gave not in vain,

your life for us all, we rejoice at your name!
