The mithril sunburst is one of the three Divine symbols most commonly associated with Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun, the other two being the unblinking eye and the couchant lion. It represented Her role as sentinel of the sun, which She was also the creator of in a way, as it was born from the same primal fire that is a part of Her makeup.
