In an autocracy, one person assumes leadership of an organisation, usually a House, and keeps it until he or she is defeated by another member of the same organization via contestation. A leader of an autocratic organisation may or may not, depending on the structure of said organisation, be limited to serving just one consecutive term, or may serve a term of fixed or indefinite length. The autocracy government was the form originally used by all Guilds.
