Anathema is a state similar to excommunication in that it cuts a Necromancer off from his or her ability to regain the necromantic essence necessary to use many important skills in Necromancy and Apostasy. Short of the Lords of Evil Themselves, only the Dread Ecclesiarch of Transvital Corruption can subject someone to this punishment.
The verb form of anathema is "anathemise."
