Pearls are highly valued not only as jewellery by crafters like Constantine in the seaside village of Tasur'ke, but also by magi as an integral part of the skill of Crystalism. The process of collecting pearls is known as pearling.
There are two kinds of pearls available in Sapience, iridescent white pearls and black pearls. The former is obtained by hunting oysters while the latter grows within the bodies of marsh oozes that live in the lost city of Kasmarkin.
Rumour states that somewhere in Sapience there is a giant pearl that might be obtained.
