Pearls are highly valued not just as jewellery but by mages as an integral part of the skillset of Crystalism. The process of collecting pearls is known as pearling.
There are two kinds of pearls available in Sapience, white iridiscent pearls and black pearls. The former is obtained by hunting oysters while the latter grows within the bodies of marsh oozes that live in the lost city of Kasmarkin.
Rumour states that somewhere in Sapience there is a giant pearl that might be obtained.
