Journals are books containing 50 pages that bear the mark of one person only, so that only that person can write or change what is written within. Some classes have special abilities that allow their words to be written in special script, so that others are unable to read what they have written. Journals are sold in most cities' Rurin shops, but may also be sold by house tutors or certain village denizens.
Personal journals are bound with leather and have vellum pages; however, a variety of decorated journals are available for a higher price in Thera, Umbrin, Zanzibaar, Cyrene, Eleusis, Mhaldor and Shallam, while Suthaine the bookbinder can rebind personal journals.
