Gold sovereigns, often referred to as just gold, are the basic units of currency in Achaea. They are used to buy almost everything (notable exceptions include the artefacts) and can be obtained through many different means. Some of the more common ones are hunting, fishing, and doing quests.
Gold sovereigns are also sometimes used in brewing concoctions. After the gold is melted down, the remaining liquid is then stirred into the rest of the mixture. Only the restoration salve includes liquid gold as part of its recipe, though the lost galvanic elixir is believed to have also used this ingredient.
