Cold breeze straight to bone
ghosts and pumpkins appear
spiders drop from trees
candy corn litter the highway
masked ones jump out, give fright
Come upon a looming house
rap rap rap at the door
a slow creak invites
with wide eyes, jaw slack
handle rush to frame
Something touched my leg
a lock of hair away
what was that
wonder of the dark,
wander into the dust
Meander through the mansion
touching this and that
thinking out loud
strange voices answer back
that's it, enough!
Running out to the road
giggling children in groups
they beg for treats
better run if none
or they leave a treat instead
