Upon Demeter's coming to this world,
The Chaos Goddess threw a grand affair-
While mortals and Divine all danced and twirled,
She saw the drinks all Chaos-spiked, with care.
Poor Melpomene, the spirit of the Black
Drank deeply of the Chaos goblet there;
Demeter of the Seasons, too, sat back
And swigged the liquor down without a prayer.
Now, hangovers are dread in the Divine,
As Eris knew quite well and counted on;
And soon the Black was so far out of line,
The Lady Green was called to soothe her spawn.
The violence quickly ceased within the trees;
The Black grew still and peaceful once again.
But symptoms of loosed Chaos aren't th'disease
And Treekin's birth proved Chaos'd settled in.
Now Eris teaches Chaos fosters change
And Babel says that Chaos brings the Void,
Still others hold a quite impressive range
Of thoughts regarding th'Chaos now deployed.
As mortals, we can't know with certainty
Why change occurs, or how the world may end;
What we can do is be thankful for these trees
And grateful for their service, as our friends.
