The Archprelate of the Church was the mortal leader of the Holy Church of Achaea. In addition to responsibilities of Church governance and spiritual direction, the Archprelate held power to excommunicate those priests and paladins who misused their Devotion. The prelacy who appointed the Archprelate consisted of the Mayan Prelate, who was the House Lord of the Empyreal Assembly, the Justicar Prelate, who was the House Lord of the Templars, and the Imithian Prelate, who was appointed by the Divine Patron of the Church. When the Citadel of Light arose in 568 AF, the authority and power of the Archprelates became vested in the Caliph of Shallam.
