Anathema is a state similar to excommunication in that it cuts an Apostate or Infernal off from his or her ability to regain the life essence necessary to use many important abilities in Necromancy (or Oppression). Short of the God of Evil himself, only the Dread Ecclesiarch of Transvital Corruption can subject someone to this horrible punishment.
The verb form of anathema is "anathemise".
