The mithril sunburst was one of the three Divine symbols most commonly associated with Mithraea, Goddess of the Sun, the other two being the unblinking eye and the couchant lion. It represented Her role as sentinel of the sun, as it was born from the same primal fire that was a part of Her makeup.
