This tale begins in the East

At Light's cleansing released,

Cyrene felt a rumbling near,

Their Chapel sundered,

Turned to meadow that year.

"They took him!

They took him!

To Cyrene they fled!"

A mother cried out,

filled with dread.

"He's here I know,

Find him! Please go!

They took my son!"

Came the voice again.

Of clues we'd none.

She moaned and screamed,

Wails echoed and teemed,

But his fate was sealed...

By deceitful deed,

The child left only to yield.

Devious facade removed,

The Truth now proved,

A wrong was done here,

With so much hidden,

Would anyone hear?

"I hear..." came a young voice.

"I hear!" came an old voice.

Cyrene, as one, listened,

Willing to help and aid,

Their tears fell and glistened.

They came lost and afraid,

With a false charade,

In a priestess disguise

They recited their tale,

Dripping with lies.

The mother's voice refuted,

"'Twas my son they looted!!

Find the box, it must be found..."

Her love was palpable,

From her burial ground.

Ritual tainted and dark,

Left sacrificial mark,

A youth unwillingly taken,

The Priestesses!!

What did they awaken?

They summoned Chaos to infect,

Our beloved Chapel, now wrecked.

Theodelinda, leader unholy,

Betraying priestess,

We could not foresee.

But Truth is known now after all,

Poisoned altar left to fall,

The traitors three took their lives,

Except the Lead,

She yet survives.

She hid in shadows ever close,

Turned a monster, a thing she chose,

Despite her slaughtering on the loose,

And statue come a'creeping

Theodelinda was at last reduced.

But success was short despite our best,

Unable to speak and unable to rest,

The ghostly child was not set free.

"Let's cleanse the meadow and the boy",

Cyrene gathered at the plea.

Peaceful, calm, revived and renewed,

The meadow's taint now subdued.

The Mother and Child united at last.

Their joy is heard from beyond,

In ghostly whispers 'cross the grass.
