The currents pull and push me, but I don't resist. None of us resist. Here, now, there is serenity, peace, although that can change in an instant to a torrent of rage. All around there is the Great Ocean and I ebb along on the invisible currents, lazily drifting towards its unknown end. Others come and go around me, some along other currents; others seem to vanish completely from where they drift. We do not fear for those that disappear. It's been happening for as long as memory. They always return. Weary and worn they come back to the Great Ocean and our lord nourishes them. The current pulls me along faster now, but...something else. I feel...I feel a tugging on my being. I know what this means. It's happened before. The tugging becomes stronger, more insistent. I don't resist, this is just a stronger current. I yield to it and find myself pulled away from the Great Ocean...pulled through the Great Ocean. I wonder where I will be this time...who I will be tied to. It's always different. For all of us, it's always different, bound for a brief moment to another, flowing with the current of its will. Sometimes we fight; we don't hold grudges against each other because we know each will flow on, as we always have. I know I will get there soon. You summon a water weird to assist you in water crossings. The first thing I always notice here is how freely the current flows and how dry it is. This place is perfect for the aerials, much more insubstantial. I find it strange. Everything flows here, but not in ways I've come to rely on in the Great Ocean. I look to my Tetherer. Their names for us are weirds. In their language it means strange, out of place. To look at them they are the ones who look weird, strange, in this place where all four of us come together. I look to my surroundings. In front of my Tetherer is a patch of blue, tiny when compared to the Great Ocean. My Tetherer takes a step forward and I know what comes next. I flow behind, imposing my will on the water below to harden, become something unlike water. There is no resistance, water flows. My Tetherer continues to walk, I continue to flow. Shortly we are across. I feel slightly drained. Soon I will have used up my power to remain here. My Tetherer walks away from the water. We pass another, with another tethered too. As we pass a thought flows between us, a greeting, the Tetherers unaware. After a time, I feel weak, hardly able to hold this form, hardly able to hold the barrier keeping the dryness out. I will flow back soon. Once more my Tetherer comes upon water, but I cannot help them anymore. The last of my power is flowing away from me. I hear the Great Ocean calling me, our lord, singing for me to come home. His voice grows louder. The water weird suddenly collapses into a puddle of normal water. I have returned to the Great Ocean. Drifting once more on the eternal currents. Cradled in our lord's embrace, I feel my essence returning, flowing back to me. Others pass me. Drifting past on currents of their own. Others vanish, pulled away. The currents pull and push me, but I don't resist.
