Gathering his princess against his chest,
Having vowed to help her in her quest,
The rightful heir to the coveted crown,
At the mercy of the man dashing through town,
No more than a vision skimming rooftops,
His swift feet dodging driving raindrops,
Whereupon reaching the tomb he stops -
Then gently sets her down.

Urgent glances exchanged between,
The legendary mark and the rightful queen,
No time to waste she enters the tomb,
As he prepares to draw Three Moons,
With hundreds of men closing herein,
And the princess searching the tomb therein,
He guards the sacred place wherein -
The staff lay entombed.

Bodies begin piling all around,
As he endlessly cuts them down,
Empty vials scattered all about,
His herbs low and pipes nearly out,
But just then Mycale's army withdrew,
Giving Lucaine's body time to renew,
When out from the crowd stepped a man he knew -
And ordered his death with a shout.

With sword in hand Lucaine bade,
The power of fire to his blade,
Shining like a tiny sun,
He drove men back one by one,
But for every man who fell around him,
Three random blades successfully found him,
And nearly succumbing to the weakness that bound him -
There finally remained but one.

Duke Errikale entered the circle of light,
And pulled from his robes a slim white knife,
As Lucaine unsheathed his sword it rang,
A final battle cry it sang,
And as the greatest stories are,
This one will be told near and far,
For a broken man formed a broken star -
And Three Moons defeated Arsenic Fang.

Sheathing his sword out of sight,
He would not draw it again this night,
And emerging from the tomb at last,
Catarin witnessed Lucaine collapse,
Slippers the colour of pale blue skies,
And a brightly lit hem greet his tired eyes,
And just before losing consciousness he sighs -
For he knew she found Nicator's staff.
