Numerous voices bellowed and called, "Jahalen, please! Come back, come back!" Songs of hope, forever lingering, echoing through the night.

"Us? In a city proper?" Came the spluttering reply to a proposition having just been made. Eyes cast about for the culprit of the words, meaningful glares made to innocent bystanders as they searched for the piercing eyes of the man whose voice had been heard. Arguing with a leader, surely a punishable crime, was not a common thing to occur within such an organised, and united community. A man stepped forward, his tawny hair tussled by the wind that was passing them by in a flourish of force. His eyes glared at those that were offering a new way of life, whilst the occasional glance towards his beloved brethren showed a deep concern...

Numerous voices bellowed and called, "Jahalen, please! Come back, come back!" Songs of hope, forever lingering, echoing through the night.

His voice grew deep and a frown appeared on his usually compassionate face. A darkened stare gave a silent word of warning to anyone who would interrupt him, and the crowd grew quiet with anticipation. He spoke calmly, "I've never heard of such a ridiculous idea, Sirs. We are ones of freedom and the ability to make our own choices, we are not ones to be held captive by City laws and regulations." And with his words came a wave of uncertainty as the crowd listened to his wise words...

Numerous voices bellowed and called, "Jahalen, please! Come back, come back!" Songs of hope, forever lingering, echoing through the night.

"We are people of the forest!" He cried, "People of peace and harmony! Eleusis is not... it is not what we are, it is for those who live by rules forced upon them! We are now free, and have worked hard to be so! Do not change our lives for the better of yourselves, Sirs." He glared at the leaders opposite him, a dark storm evident in his eyes. He had been born a part of them and would die a part of them, even if it meant he had to be alone in his so-called community...

Numerous voices bellowed and called, "Jahalen, please! Come back, come back!" Songs of hope, forever lingering, echoing through the night.

"I won't stand for our society to be ruined by the rules of others, overpowered by the idiocy of generalisation and association! We are ourselves, our own!" He cried, glaring into the crowd. They began to murmer, a sweep of doubt falling onto them like rain crashing to the valleys of Sapience. "Listen to me..." He pleaded. They cast their eyes to their neighbours, some understanding and most being ignorant of such independance. Scared of losing a close friend, scared of losing their community, but most scared of change...

And then...

A young woman stepped forward, trident in one hand and a fierce stare set upon her face.

"I will follow you where you roam, Jahalan."

One small woman, comparatively tiny within the community ruled by hierarchy and general fear of showing a difference in opinion. A butterfly effect, as it were, to cause those who had the potential to listen to their doubts and to follow their desires to actually do so...

...And so Sparrow's Rest was formed.
