Here are eight short riddles about people and things from around Sapience. The
riddles are each of the same form: Each clue within a poem will lead you to one
syllable or one part of the word, then you can put them together to get the
solution. The answers are at the bottom, but don't peek to quickly! Happy
riddling!
~1~
Hidden high from view, this creature with parts three
Meekly watches you as you sit beneath his tree.
Part one is what bards do, or something that's fruity.
A sphere makes up part two, or a dancing jubilee.
For your final clue, listen carefully,
Part three is where you go when a storm gets too windy.
Before you give up, use your thinking cap, you see—
Look up to the blue, and you could see what you seek!
~2~
Four parts have I, that tell a tale
Of bodies strewn upon the trail.
My first, when cut, brings instant death,
My second, the job of one Gareth.
My third's a boy who's grown up well,
My fourth that boy's noble title.
This one combines them, part for part,
And makes his victims faint at heart.
~3~
If you're tired of the same old routine,
Just do as I say, and you'll beam!
This riddle, you see,
Gives a great recipe
For a lovely, but rare, Godly fling!
My first, how you feel when you're down,
Or, a sound that is made by a cow.
My second can be
Oh so embarrassing
If it comes out a little too loud...
For the last, drink it and you will feel,
Like you're carrying a ton of steel.
Now put them together
And hope for nice weather—
This party's got widespread appeal!
~4~
Eyes that shine with violet fire,
Hair to which the ebon aspires.
Three parts compose this lady's name,
But ‘ware her wrath that sends the flame.
Her whole might scorn her op'ning part
For rarely gentle is her heart.
Her first and second mark a touch
Of love, a soft stroke giv'n in trust.
A member of your line, her last,
Affectionate young girl from your past.
These three combine to make a maid
Whose heart is honed true as a blade.
~5~
When you fly, you see my first
No matter where you look around.
And do you have a preposition?
No? Well find one in my second.
For my last, find what's untamed
And you'll finally have the name
Of a place, all tangled green
With a soundly sleeping Queen.
~6~
What the answer is, I'll give no hint,
But find three things, they'll lead you straight to it.
First part's what Oakstone levies in a war,
And part two's what you say when you're unsure.
Last, a theft of something that's not yours--
Now, if you are wise, the answer choose.
You're not? A shame--but one more clue I'll say--
Find this, and you might just win a game!
~7~
Take a chance and try this game,
The object is a name.
Long lost, is she, it's quite a shame,
For she would love to play!
Part of Terra, her first part is,
What coats a mage's fist.
Her third part, though, is from Fontis—
You store it in the Rift.
In the middle is part two,
It's what should govern you—
Ironic, you see, for she's one who
Is not too fond of rules.
Put these three together, they show
The most daring woman, bar none.
Seek her if you think you're prone
To standing on your own.
~8~
Where creatures strike on sight, this place is full
Of danger, lurking near you, all around.
Four parts describe it, first a kind of grain,
Second, eat this here or see the flame.
To get its third, a single letter take, and
Finally, fourth, th' uncertain sound you make.
Combine all, and you'll get a sacred home
Of those most precious to a Divine Lord.
