Founded by Sahart and serving as the Jewel of lingt Shallam, is one of the six major city-states of Sapience, alongside Mhaldor, Cyrene, Ashtan, Eleusis and Hashan. Their culture, Of course, provides a unique lens in which a universally-celebrated festival is viewed. During the time of this study, the land of Sapience is currently celebrating Mayaween, a celebration of the momentary weakening of the veil between the living and the dead. This study takes interviewed first-hand accounts of the rituals of this city-state pertaining to Mayaween.

-During this time when ghosts and zombies are more prone to appear out of nowhere, the elderly priests of the Empyreal Assembly can be found blessing nearby graveyards and offering prayers of protection for houses and families. while Mayaween is a time of celebration, these austere preachers of Light are fully aware of the dangers that a ghost can possess.

-Ghost stories told by children and adults often incorporate age-old enmity between Shallam and Ashtan. In particular, some of the popular ghost stories told include "Gloom of the Belladona Keep", "Ghosts of the Halfway House" and, one of the most frightening among the children: "The Lost Innocents of the Orphanage".

-Veneration of ancestors is a common theme among the city-states. Accompanied by a Priestly escort, families would pilgrimage to the site of the former Chrysalis Basilica, placing small offerings in hidden family graves to remind their lost loved ones that their families still miss them.

These observations are, of course, just a small sample of how Shallamese culture can influence a festival that is celebrated by all city-states. Perhaps in the future, other cities can be investigated in the same manner.
