I am a Blademaster. A sword is not just a weapon to me. It is what I live and die by. It is a violent path, perhaps. The Two Arts and Striking are meant to kill and I have no illusions about what I am. A warrior. A soldier in the making but also a person who lives, breathes and loves. I am a sword to be turned on those who would harm what I hold dear. I am a haiku that comforts and enriches those I care for. I am Alieze Etesiae of the Sylvanic Fellowship and I will tell you of my soul.


My first blade was Lunar Badger. I was fresh from the flame and eager to receive my sword. Its spirit had disappointed me, but I was naïve and decided to see if I could bear it. I was not a child of the moon, though, and neither was the badger an animal I identified with, so I set its spirit free.

The second spirit that tried to gain my attention was Ancient Wrath. It was a beautiful blade—powerful and certain. Too powerful, though. Its spirit was overbearing and its bloodlust, unrelenting; I knew I could not control the blade lest it consumed me, so I set it loose to find the one who would master it...or the one it would master, as the case may be...


Flame everburning

What ancient hurt do you nurse

To fuel such wrath?


My third blade was tempered with platinum and bathed in a sheen of gold that shone like the sun and warmed my very soul. It was called Silent Firefly and my hand trembled as Murad passed it to my hands, only to steady when I held it in my grip—I knew then that I had found my soul and I was content.
