I struggled to stand.
Strands of my long hair in my face
Blocking my view
Getting in my mouth.
Something coming at me
Hard and fast.
I raise my mace to deflect it
Pushing it aside at the last moment.
Blood trickles down my face
Into my eyes, down my blouse.
The world feels like
It's spinning slightly.
"Get up."
I barely know where I am.
Dark shadows surround me.
A bright whiteness flickers quietly.
I struggle to rise,
Every ounce of strength
Drained from my body.
My muscles barely able to move.
I quickly bite down on a leaf,
Its serrated edges cutting my tongue.
"Again."
My voice escapes my weary lips.
Twin blades flying at my head,
Connecting with my armour,
Ripping through my flesh,
Venom burning through my veins.
Two axes come at me again
Before I have a chance to recover,
Striking my arm
Painfully.
I fumble, my hands slipping
I cry out in pain,
But only the noise of a cat comes out
Desperately, I search for...
"Faster."
I look up at him,
Waiting impatiently for me,
His blades still drawn.
I picture a flame
Consuming my being.
Fire crackles around my body,
Surrounding me.
I close my eyes gently.
I feel energy flowing,
Penetrating.
Strength returns to my limbs.
A voice penetrates the flames.
"You cure like a Priestess;
Think like a Paladin."
But I can't anymore.
Silently, I focus on my pain.
Every curse so eagerly bestowed upon me.
The blood trickling down my cheeks.
I concentrate on them all.
I picture my hands in my mind.
Slowly, I open my eyes.
I grab my problems tightly
And throw them at my mentor.
He falls backwards,
Startled.
Blue energy crackles
And surrounds his body.
He shrugs off
All that I did to him
As he looks at me
Silently.
He raises his battleaxe
Swinging it around his head.
I look at him in disbelief
Then darkness consumes me.
As I awaken,
I look around
For him,
But he is gone.
Impatient,
Disappointed.
He left me a note.
"Tomorrow, we go again."
