Zaphar Isle

Zaphar Isle is a sandy, rocky place in the Southern Sea. The island is actually composed of two separate landmasses connected by a wooden bridge. At high tide, the bridge becomes completely submerged. Passage between the northern and southern islands is permissable only after the twice-daily ebbing of the tides. The southern island is inhabited by fishermen, women, and carefree children. The natives have their own dialect, making them difficult to understand. At the center of the rocky island, within a gorge, rests the village. There is also a small chapel here containing a wooden altar and an old version of the Holy Codex.

The northern island is where the villagers travel to collect fresh water with certain peril, as this half of the Zaphar Isle is crawling with giant, aggressive scorpions. Nearly equal in size to its southern counterpart, the northern island is also rocky and dry but apparently possesses some source of potable water. The scorpions are to be approached with great caution, as their rapid stings deliver several deadly venoms.

Zaphar Isle was discovered in the year 461 AF, shortly after the advent of sailing, by captain Gnaash and his crew Caleth and Caz, upon their Thalassian seastrider, The Aeolos.
