I - Kindling

Flakes of snow settled on bare trees,

Shielding no-one from the cold breeze;

Yet the forest watches people come and go,

Leaving nothing but a trace in the snow.

I sit in my grove with a book in hand,

Finding rare comfort on the cold land,

A comfort that only a Druid can find

Within a grove that shares their mind.

My mind travelled back to a lonely time,

When life was always a difficult climb:

A shy Druid forging a role in his house

Whose last thought was of finding a spouse.

This child was I, unaware of the power,

Held by a single person, a rare flower,

Who would set my quiet heart aflame

And create a love time will never tame.

From fallen Genji did she hail,

But on Vastar's wind did she sail.

An Atavian from a broken home,

She knew well the pain of being alone.

Wise beyond her short years,

The idea of love brought her to tears,

She flew out of Genji alone, in the dark

Holding a fragile heart with a bright spark.

The soft wind did set our course,

Guided by a wise divine force,

And brought the two of us together,

Even in this cold, wet weather.

My lonesome heart caught fire,

Thanks to her powerful desire

The embers of our love burst into flame,

We now own a joy no one can claim.

II - Flame

Our flame was well tended,

Our lives were now mended.

With smiles on our faces,

We went forward with a pace

The content would fine perfect.

To us, our patience was worth it

Our lives were made together

We would be as the flame, forever.

Her ebony hair flows like night,

Her wings, carved from alabaster light

Sheltered our bodies from the rain,

As our love kept away any pain.

She took my hand and would smile

A wry, shy smile that is her style.

The flames would rise to the skies

As we would both sigh content sighs.

We were inseparable, travelling to beautiful, distant lands

Stumbling upon stately temples or resting near ocean sands.

We travelled through the well known trees,

Mountains, valleys, all the way to the seas.

Nothing would tear us apart; the bright blaze

Could not be quenched by the storms lasting days.

It had enough tinder in our hearts to last

All the days the Gods counted in the past.

Other times we would sit in the Ithmian trees,

We decorated the grove from shells from the seas.

I made a golem and she named him Greer,

From that day I have always kept him dear.

It became too clear to us that Vastar

Would create a wind to send us afar.

For each other we would yearn

Yet forever our flame would burn.

III - Embers

Years have gone by, and only a few days

Have been blessed with my love, before she says

"Hear my voice in the whispering of the wind"

And she is off, leaving me to guess how I sinned

To be given a lot in love such as this.

Her smooth milky white skin I do miss,

But now I patiently wait to hear,

The soft beat of her wings as she draws near.

Our daughter and I await her return,

I show strength to my child as I yearn

To be embraced lovingly and with renewed passion

Amid ebony hair and alabaster wings in our fashion.

So many years apart, I rejoice just seeing her face

For an hour, my heart would race

And the dim light of our once bright fire

Sparks a moment, but I never let it become dire.

Even though my lovely atavian is gone,

I keep a smile and hum a happy song.

I give a warm hug and reassuring smile

To our lovely daughter, and all the while

I tend to our precious embers of love

And keep a patient eye to the skies above

For the day when she returns with a smile,

Telling me she will stay longer than a while.

Until that joyous day I calmly wait,

Ensuring our embers remain in their state.

I often walk the roads we once walked,

Take a rest in the places we talked,

All the while tossing a memory or two

Onto our embers, keeping them bright and new.

Wherever you are, know that I will never tire,

And when you return, together, we can rebuild our fire.
