The Ascendant is the title for the current Overlord of the Vertani Empire. A Solarn chosen by the suicidal Imperial Oracles, idiot savants kept restrained and confined after being 'touched by the All' forced them into a life of horror, the Overlord is advised by a council of Solarns from the other Vertani Houses.
