Seaspells

Seaspells are powerful spells invoked through melding one's psyche with a sea spirit that dwells within a ship, via a consecrated and mounted figurehead. Each seaspell has an associated power cost, and the power is replenished through sailing and from invoking hunger on a seamonster.

A figurehead may have up to four seaspells invested, and seaspells may only be invested or uninvested when docked at a harbour. Hunger does not need to be invested.

Seaspell Description
Barrier Summon a prismatic barrier for all allies aboard.
Syntax: INVOKE BARRIER
DISSOLVE BARRIER
Power cost: 300 to initiate, plus 5 per barrier raised.
Details:
A seaspell to invoke prismatic barriers around all those upon your ship.
Be careful: each and every barrier raised once this seaspell is active drains power from the figurehead, until you DISSOLVE BARRIER.
Hunger Replenish your figurehead by slaying seamonsters
Syntax: INVOKE HUNGER <target seamonster>
Power cost: 300
Extra information: Does not need to be invested
Details:
A seaspell that will cast a spectral net upon a target seamonster. If the seamonster dies before the net disappears, the casting figurehead will be replenished a significant amount of power.
Rainstorm Extinguish shipboard conflagrations.
Syntax: INVOKE RAINSTORM
Power cost: 50
Extra information: May not be invested with shield
Details:
A seaspell to douse all deck and sail fires at once. Instantly puts out all fires on the entire vessel.
Shield Weave a shield around your ship to protect it from damage attacks.
Syntax: INVOKE SHIELD
Power cost: 200
Extra information: May not be invested with rainstorm
Details:
A seaspell to weave a shield around your ship to protect it from damage attacks. Can be shattered by a wavescythe seaspell.
Shipcloak Conceal your ship from others on the seas.
Syntax: INVOKE SHIPCLOAK[ING]
DISSOLVE SHIPCLOAK[ING]
Power cost: 200
Extra information: May not be invested with wavecall
Details:
A seaspell to surround your ship in a cloak of darkness from other ships. Flares shot within a certain distance of your ship will bring your ship to light, however. Shooting a flare from your own ship while cloaked will also dissolve your cloaking.
Wavecall Summon an immense wave for instant movement.
Syntax: INVOKE WAVECALL <direction> <distance between 1-8>
Power cost: Variable dependent on distance and speed
Extra information: May not be invested with shipcloak
Details:
A seaspell to summon a wave to propel your ship a great distance, instantaneously, at a great cost in personal endurance, hull damage, as well as figurehead power. All costs increase with greater distance.
Personnel on other ships nearby with SHIPWARNING active will see be informed of the direction in which a ship wavecalls away.
Wavescythe Break a ship's shield
Syntax: INVOKE WAVESCYTHE <target ship>
Power cost: 200
Details:
A seaspell to shatter the magical shield of a ship within a small radius.
Whirlpool Create a watery inteference.
Syntax: INVOKE WHIRLPOOL <dir>
Power cost: 350
Details:
While shipmelded, you may call upon the ship's figurehead to summon temporary whirlpools around your ship, which make it difficult for vessels to enter or leave that spot of the ocean.
Windboost Gain a temporary boost to your ship's speed.
Syntax: INVOKE WINDBOOST
Power cost: 150
Resource: 200 Mana
Details:
Lasting for 100 seconds, the speed of your ship will increase between 2 and 4 knots. Despite the name, windboost will affect a vessel even with furled sails.
