Foolish and naive, Grace lured a sailor she had fallen in love with from his ship to join her in the sea. Unknown to her, the man couldn't survive in the sea and drowned. Like others who have abandoned their posts the man was cursed to wander the seas and the grief-stricken merrow followed until one day he was called from the waters.
A windcutter offered redemption to the souls of those undead and the chance to find peace. The man joined the crew, and after a time Grace traded her voice to the captain of the ship in exchange to stay and work alongside her suitor. Now, she uses her spirit lantern to guide her charges through the legends of the night sky as she serves in her duty as figurehead of the vessel, "Drowning Grace".
