The correct title of this article is deSangre. Technical restrictions cause it to be displayed here with an initial capital letter.

The deSangre family consisted chiefly of the ruling bloodline of imperial Seleucar. Formally established by Emperor Nicator some time between 800 and 712 BF, the deSangres reigned for the entirety of the Seleucarian Empire's 800-year history. Opinions of the deSangre dynasty varied greatly throughout its rule, depending on the emperor of the time; from martial weariness under the rule of Piraeus, to sincere gratefulness and grace for the renaissance brought on by the Catarine Dominion, to bitter resentment toward the venal self-indulgence and proletariat disdain that the deSangres held near the empire's fall.

The name "deSangre" likely alludes to Nicator's original birthplace on the edge of Thera, bordering the Sangre Plains. As the surname itself does not appear in any documents of the early Seleucarian era, it is unknown at which point the name was coined (or even if the term predates Nicator and his parents in any way).
